Laszlo Nemes' World War II drama SON OF SAUL was met with critical acclaim upon its release at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, and Screen Daily is reporting that the Hungarian filmmaker has secured grant money to help fund SUNSET, his next directorial effort. The film will be produced by Gabor Sipos of Hungary’s Laokoon Cinema, the same production company behind SON OF SAUL.
Earlier this year Nemes described SUNSET to the site as a coming-of-age tale that is also a thriller, and that it will tell the story of a young woman in pre-World War I Budapest. He went on to say the movie "takes place in a very important moment, before the First World War and before civilization starts going into the darkness."
I've hear nothing but fantastic things about SON OF SAUL, and with the high praise it has received, things should move forward quickly on his next film.
