Rachel McAdams says that Doctor Strange will be unlike any other Marvel film

Thankfully the Marvel films haven't all been carbon copies of one another; obviously they all take place in the same universe but Kevin Feige and his team have managed to tackle different genres with many of the MCU films, such as CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER's political thriller and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY's campy space-opera. Marvel's third phase is well underway as DOCTOR STRANGE officially kicked off production just last week and according to Rachel McAdams, the film will represent a change from the past Marvel aesthetic.

MTV chatted with the actress at the Gotham Independent Film Awards where she told them that DOCTOR STRANGE is "definitely not going to be like any of the other [Marvel] films," as it will have a very different visual feel. Given the rather surreal nature of Dr. Stephen Strange's adventures, I wouldn't expect anything less. We still don't know exactly who Rachel McAdams will be playing in DOCTOR STRANGE, but she certainly sounds thrilled to be joining the Marvel franchise.

I mean, I just love the director, I met with Scott [Derrickson] and loved his vision, he was so passionate. And the opportunity to work with Benedict was kind of a no-brainer. And Marvel makes amazing films, so it was a complete package.

Kevin Feige has previously said that McAdams' character will function as the audience's eyes "to a certain extent" and will play "a very, very big part in the movie and represents a certain point of view of the worlds that we experience in that movie." DOCTOR STRANGE is set to hit theaters on November 4, 2016, but Rachel McAdams' latest film, SPOTLIGHT, debuted in theaters on November 6, 2015.
