Crossbones is “not a happy guy” in Civil War, says Frank Grillo

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER may have been my favourite film out of Marvel's Phase Two, so I am eagerly awaiting what the Russo brothers have in store for us with CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. One of my favourite characters from THE WINTER SOLDIER, Frank Rumlow a.k.a Crossbones, will be returning for CIVIL WAR and Frank Grillo sat down with The Huffington Post to answer a few questions about his character's state of mind in the new film.

Brock Rumlow was in bad shape [in the Winter Soldier], and it was because of Cap and he's not happy. I tell ya, coming back, as Crossbones, his alter ego, he is not a happy guy, and there's nothing that's gonna get in the way of him doing what he's set out to do, which I cannot tell you or Marvel will take me away to a place we don't know of.

I doubt I'd be overly pleased either if my last encounter with Captain America (Chris Evans) ended with my body covered in horrible burns. Frank Grillo, who seems to genuinely love playing the character, went on to say that despite Crossbones' disgruntled mood, he's really "out for a good time, he's gonna have fun." Grillo was then asked if there was anything from the set that he wished he had been able to keep and, not surprisingly, he really wanted to keep that sweet Crossbones costume.

I wish I could have kept part of that Crossbones costume, because it may be the coolest thing I ever put on, the mask, they really did a great job, there was probably 6-7 fittings, and I think out of all the costumes that I saw, and I didn't see all of them, the Crossbones costume, which is no secret, it's all over the internet, evoked the most visceral responses from people, like people were really taken aback by this costume. So I wish I could have kept some of that and maybe, somehow, I'll steal something from Marvel [in the future].

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR will hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
