THR is reporting that Ari Graynor (FOR A GOOD TIME, CALL…, The Sopranos), Hannibal Buress (NEIGHBORS, Broad City) and Andrew Santino (Sin City Saints) are set to star in THE DISASTER ARTIST, the upcoming James Franco-directed movie about the making of Tommy Wiseau's THE ROOM, joining the previously cast Dave Franco, Seth Rogen and Josh Hutcherson. The site has also learned that Jacki Weaver (ANIMAL KINGDOM, SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK) is in talks to play Carolyn Minnott, the actress who played Claudette, and that Kate Upton has landed an undisclosed role in the movie.
Graynor will play Juliette Danielle ("Lisa"), while Buress will appear as the owner of the stage where Wiseau shot the movie, and Santino has been cast as actor Scott Holmes ("Mike). Besides helming THE DISASTER ARTIST, Franco will also star as the eccentric director, and Dave Franco is attached to play Greg Sestero, who co-starred in THE ROOM as "Mark" and co-wrote the 2013 book about the film's troubled production.
THE DISASTER ARTIST will go into production this week, and will likely be released sometime next year.
