Everyone wants to know where the Hulk will show his angry green face next as it pertains to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When we last saw him, he had cut off all communications while sitting alone in a Quinjet, determined to no longer endanger those he loved (in this case, it was Scarlet Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow). So where might he be headed? What would be his next move? The speculation had begun.
Well, the rumor mill is churning up a fresh batch of prospects on the Hulk’s whereabouts and Geek.com believes they’ve pinpointed where we will see the Hulk pop up next in the MCU.
So, if you don’t want to know right now, maybe you slowly back away from this story and go read something else on the site in order to keep yourself fresh, as this is obviously going to enter into SPOILER TERRITORY for Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Enjoy the next article, and we’ll meet up again soon.
Okay, are they gone?
For real? I just want to make sure all the stragglers have had a chance to second guess themselves and get out while they still can.
Alright… Let’s get into the details.
Everything looks to be coming together as a part of THOR: RAGNAROK. The word is that Cate Blanchett would be serving as one of the film’s main villains, playing the role of Hela, and teaming up with Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki to fully take over Asgard. Thor would then be exiled into deep space, in order to prevent his interference to this evil plot. Far out there, he would land on an alien planet where he would be imprisoned and forced into gladitorial combat for the natives’ entertainment.
Is this sounding familiar at all?
Thor needs to battle his way off the planet in order to get back to Asgard to stop Hela and his brother and is able to make his way through all of the competition… until he reaches the reigning champion. And I imagine you’ve been able to put together who that’s going to be.
Yep… the Hulk.
The Planet Hulk rumors have been floating around for quite some time, with Marvel always denying that any of it was in the cards for the future of the Hulk. That looks to have been the case all along, with only recently Marvel shifting gears and deciding to put the Hulk out in space (that is, if this rumors does indeed pan out).
That does not mean we’re going to be getting a full-blown Planet Hulk film or that we’re going to get a very detailed explanation as to how the Hulk wound up out here (maybe Marvel will fill in the blanks along the way, maybe they won’t)… but THOR: RAGNAROK is going to be a big step in making some semblance of that popular story arc happen and it’ll serve as a re-entry for the Hulk back into the MCU after some time away from the big screen.
Remember though… most Marvel films are fully constructed story-wise in post-production, so this is something that may be in the plans but doesn’t quite shake out for the final film. We’ll have to wait awhile to find out that fate of this particular idea, but as of now, it appears to at least be on the MCU radar as a possibility.
THOR: RAGNAROK is set for release on November 3, 2017.
