Chiwetel Ejiofor on bringing Baron Mordo to life in Doctor Strange

Filming of Marvel's DOCTOR STRANGE is still underway, but we're not too far off from our introduction to the magical side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The upcoming film will follow the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions. This discovery leads him to the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) as well as one of her students, Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor). Although the character has traditionally been known as an adversary of Doctor Strange, Ejiofor has previously suggested that he didn't think Mordo could be nailed down either way. The actor recently sat down with HeyUGuys to chat about his character.

I think he’s a fascinating character, I think even in the original framework of that character I think it’s very fascinating. And sort of fleshing that out and giving that a kind of real three dimensional quality has been really exciting and I think that even within the scope and the technical and visual skill of the Marvel universe, I think that this is really something unique. I’m excited for people to see it.

Seeing as how this is a Marvel film, Chiwetel Ejiofor obviously couldn't spill much of anything, but the actor isn't bothered by Marvel's secrecy, saying "you want to hold it back for people to see it, so it seems to be normal to not talk about something too much before people get a chance to take a look at it" Ejiofor also commented on the amount of diversity in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

Marvel are introducing a lot of different characters, and diversity in the characters. I think getting Black Panther up and running is like really great, really exciting. I think that the more that that can happen and we get as an audience to experience different stories, different people, I think it’s very rich, it’s a very rich world.

DOCTOR STRANGE is set for a November 4, 2016 release.
