Ernie Hudson was quite impressed with the cast of Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters

After what has seemed like a very long wait, our first real look at Paul Feig's GHOSTBUSTERS will arrive in a little under two weeks with the release of the films first trailer. Beyond a few images and quotes, we really don't know all that much about the film, but that hasn't stopped many GHOSTBUSTERS fans from questioning the films existence. Ernie Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in the original movies, spoke to People at the American Black Film Festival Awards recently and he seems to think that the film will be just as good as the original and singled out praise for the new group of Ghostbusters played by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.

They're extraordinarily funny and there's a great chemistry with them, I think it's going to be very good. The script I knew was good. I knew the special effects would be amazing. But I was really pleasantly surprised to see how the women kind of gelled together.

Ernie Hudson isn't the only familiar face returning for the new film, in addition to himself, Hudson said that Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts all came back "to support the film." Although you shouldn't be expecting them to share any screen-time as Hudson says that their cameos "come in at quite different times" throughout the film. When so many films nowadays release teasers a year or more ahead of their release dates, it feels a little strange that the first teaser for GHOSTBUSTERS will arrive with less than five months to go before before its release. It's my hope that they're merely using that time to craft a great trailer in order to make our first impression of GHOSTBUSTERS a good one.

GHOSTBUSTERS is set for a July 15, 2016 release.
