The Russos have a lot on their collective minds these days as they prepare for a lot of major developments to be unveiled over the next few years. There’s the introduction of a new Spider-Man in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. They also need to set the table for the Phase Three that emerges from that film. Then, of course, they need to prepare for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, both parts, which will be the culmination of a decade-long story arc that will finally have Thanos front and center. The Russos are as important to everything that’s going on with the Marvel Cinematic Universe now as Joss Whedon was to its build. And so it was interesting to see them talking about some of those important aspects in which they’re so involved in a conversation with Forbes.
First up, the second half of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will essentially be the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we’ve known it to that point. Three phases will have played out to get us there, and once it’s over, where does the MCU go from there? The Russos have some perspective on all that expanding that’s been done and how it comes together for that two-parter,
It’s a big sprawling ambitious movie, it’s about as ambitious as movies get and it should be, and the title alone indicates that there will be an incredible scape and scope to it.
It is intended to be the entire culmination of the Marvel cinematic universe and, in many ways, the end to that part of it. But we don’t even have the first draft in on that script yet; we’re still in the outline phase. It’s hard not to talk about it too specifically now only because of spoilers but also because we’re still figuring it out.
But before that, they’ve still got to get through CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, which will be a table setter for Phase Three. Spider-Man is now involved, in addition to Black Panther and… well, it’s very possible we may get some other tidbits that feed into the other films on Marvel’s docket for the foreseeable future. That is usually done with some appetizing post-credtis stingers, and the Russos have some thoughts on how long you should keep your ass planted in your seat following CIVIL WAR.
We can’t say who is going to be in it but we can say that there certainly could be one, or two, maybe three. We can confirm that you should stay sat in your seats when the movie is done.
Maybe as many as three? You’d better get yourself comfortable learning who the production babies were during CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR’s shoot, because you’re not getting up until you see everything you can possibly check out on May 6.
