You're not going to have to wait until 2018 as initially thought in order to check out the sequel to BLADE RUNNER. Late in 2017 will do.
Today Alcon Entertainment announced that it has moved up the follow-up to Ridley Scott's BLADE RUNNER on the release date calendar. Denis Villeneuve's film is now positioned for an October 6, 2017 release date, as opposed to the January 12, 2018 slot it had previously occupied. That sets BLADE RUNNER 2 right smack in the middle of the industry's typical awards season, so perhaps Alcon has something on their hands they believe is good enough to compete during that stretch of the year. That should send hope through the veins of BLADE RUNNER fans skeptical about going back to the well again after so long. Then again, plenty of films have failed to live up to the Oscar hype that was projected upon them around that time, too, so… well, there's that to consider also.
BLADE RUNNER 2 is set to head before cameras in July, with Ryan Gosling, Robin Wright and Dave Bautista starring and Harrison Ford returning to the sci-fi world he hasn't visited since 1982.
