David Goyer Krypton TV SyFy pilot

We've been hearing about David Goyer's development of a MAN OF STEEL prequel television series for well over a year now, but the reaction to the potential series has never been all that positive. It looks as though we're going to have to get used to the series as Krypton has come one step closer to becoming a reality. SyFy is close to finalizing a deal for a pilot order, and Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) has come on board the project as executive producer/show-runner, with Colm McCarthy (Peaky Blinders) set to direct the pilot.

Krypton will be set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.

Damian Kindler and David Goyer are doing rewrites on the pilot script which will greatly expand the world we saw so briefly in MAN OF STEEL. Goyer hasn't said much about the series, but he has said that they'll be "treating Krypton like it’s a historical piece. We look to previous cultures on Earth to model what that would be like. We scratched the surface in the film and, for me, that was the allure. I was always fascinated, as a kid, with the books about Krypton and they’ve only shaded in a tiny bit, so we’ll learn about the politics of the world. We’ll learn about the culture, the art, all the different guilds."

What does Krypton have to do in order to gain your interest?
