The Apocalypse has finally arrived and although the reviews for Bryan Singer's latest X-MEN flick haven't been quite as positive as Fox was hoping for, there's still plenty of praise being thrown at Quicksilver's (Evan Peters) standout sequence in the film. After the character's wonderful introduction in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, Bryan Singer and his team knew that they would have to go above and beyond in order to top that sequence. Quicksilver's scene has been featured prominently in much of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE's marketing, and now a new featurette has shed a little light on how they were able to pull it off.
I'd assume that the Blu-ray/DVD release of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will delve more deeply into the making of this scene, but I'm actually quite surprised/impressed at how much they were able to do physically on set rather than relying almost entirely on CGI. Make sure to check out reviews of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE from our own Chris Bumbray and Eric Walkuski.
A synopsis of X-MEN: APOCALYPSE:
Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
