Alexandre Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo has been adapted to film multiple times, but Warner Bros. and Safehouse Pictures are doing something a little different with their big screen take on the classic revenge tale.
Deadline is reporting that WB and Safehouse have set William Eubank (THE SIGNAL) to helm COUNT, contemporary retelling of the story that is set in the criminal underworld. Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold are producing for Safehouse, while Heroes and Daredevil writer Joe Pokaski, who recently worked with the duo on the WGN series Underground, has been tapped to write the movie's script.
It sounds like the project is still in the early stages of development, so there's no word on a possible production start date or when the it might hit theaters, but who would you like to see lead COUNT?
