Alien: Covenant will be a “beautiful meeting” of both Alien and Prometheus

Although PROMETHEUS didn't quite live up to my expectations, I was able to find more than enough to like to keep my spirits high for Ridley Scott's upcoming sequel. Production on ALIEN: COVENANT wrapped up last month and with a little under a year to go until it arrives in theaters, there's still plenty of time for me to let the hype in my head reach unattainable levels. Have I learned nothing? Michael Fassbender will be returning as David, the synthetic who is discovered by the crew of the Covenant on a "dark and dangerous" new world, and the actor spoke with Collider recently to express his excitement for the new film.

I have to say, this Alien is going to be – I’m really excited to see it and everybody in the film was saying that there’s a film that we all wanna see. It’s much scarier than Prometheus, but it’s got that sort of same scope as Prometheus, that imminent sort of disaster feel, that Alien had. So it’s kind of a beautiful meeting of both of those films. I’m really excited to see it, I think it’s gonna be super scary, number one. And again, with the massive scope of Prometheus.

It all sounds good to me, but I suppose we'll have to wait and see if Ridley Scott can actually pull this off and get those people who felt burned by PROMETHEUS back on-board his grand multi-film vision for the ALIEN franchise. ALIEN: COVENANT also stars Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Billy Crudup, Noomi Rapace and will hit theaters on August 4, 2017.
