Sexy teen drama based on the Archie comics Riverdale releases new trailer

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

While I love comics, ARCHIE was one I could never get into. I guess I associate him, his constantly eating pal Jughead, and the perpetual love triangle between him, Betty, and Veronica, as a thing of the past. Like poodle skirts and "Coloreds Only" drinking fountains.

And it seems CW, in trying to make a new show out of the property, seems to think the same way. So instead of wholesome sock hops and hamburger eating contests, there's now going to be MURDER, and SEX, and SECRETS instead. It honeslty looks like showrunner Greg Berlanti (ARROW, FLASH) is trying to turn Archie's idyllic home into f*cking TWIN PEAKS.

Anyway, without further ado, here's the batshit trailer for CW's new sexy teen show RIVERDALE:

And here's the official synopsis:

The live-action series offers a bold, compelling take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books—including Archie’s rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones.

I mean, I'm curious. As I said before, I was never a fan of the comics or the character (though I did enjoy the live-action JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS movie), so a revisionist take doesn't really bother me. Although, I totally would understand purists being livid. Either way, I'll probably check it out once I'm done streaming the second season of FULLER HOUSE.

Also, to be fair, it's not the most batshit thing Archie has ever done:

RIVERDALE will premiere on the CW January 26th, 2017 at 9 PM EST.

So any fans of Archie and the gang? And if so, what's your opinion on CW's darker take?
