Edward James Olmos Sons of Anarchy spinoff

There had been rumblings of some sort of prequel or spinoff series to FX's Sons of Anarchy even before the series wrapped up its seven-season run, but last year a spinoff series was officially announced which would revolve around EZ Reyes, "a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the California/Mexico border who struggles with his desire for vengeance against the cartel as well as his need for respect from the women he loves." Now, with production on the series due to kick off next month, Kurt Sutter has tapped Battlestar Galactica's Edward James Olmos to star.

Edward James Olmos will star as "Felipe Reyes, the family's formerly strong patriarch who after years of being crushed by bullets and labor, struggles to keep his past buried and lead his own sons down a lawful and righteous path." Dubbed Mayans MC, the upcoming spinoff will be written by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James, with Sutter directing the pilot as well. Mayans MC will be set post-SOA, so if your favourite SOA character didn't make it until the end of that series, it's probably safe to say that he or she won't be making a cameo appearance on Mayans MC. Sons of Anarchy is one of those shows which I always intended on watching, but, for whatever reason, just never got around to. Maybe knowing that Mayans MC is on the way will finally light a fire under my ass to binge the series.

What are you hoping to see in the Sons of Anarchy spinoff?
