Rumor: Man of Steel 2 still a thing, Matthew Vaughn possibly directing

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

It sometimes feels like I'm one of the few people who not only liked MAN OF STEEL, but absolutely loved it (flaws and all). So it's exciting to hear that Warner Bros. still has some faith in the franchise, as reportedly work is being done to develop a sequel to MAN OF STEEL. Not only that, but there are rumors they're seeking out none other than Matthew Vaughn to direct it!

This is super exciting news, to say the least! You know, if turns out to be true. Sources close to Collider have told them that Warner Bros. is indeed looking at Vaughn to direct the next Superman movie, with preliminary talks having begun. This is by no means a done-deal, but it looks like Vaughn is at least somewhat interested as well. In fact, he had pitched his version of Superman in 2010, which was to be a more colorful and fun take.

I personally think Vaughn would be great, as he's shown not only are his films flashy and fun, with great action (remember the church fight in KINGSMAN?), but also that he gets comic book characters. His X-MEN: FIRST CLASS I'd argue is at least in the top 3 best X-MEN movies, and that's because while he indeed goes dark in his films (like Magneto's origin), he also doesn't forget the characters and humor (even in lesser efforst like KICK-ASS). So hopefully this all pans out…I mean, remember when he was supposed to direct THOR?

But what do you Schmoes think? You down for Vaughn on MAN OF STEEL 2? And if not, who'd you prefer? Sound off below!
