The Disney movie Jungle Cruise is set to reach theatres and Disney+ on July 30th, but The Asylum has beat "The Mouse" to the jungle action this summer with their latest mockbuster release, Jungle Run. Check out the trailer in the embed above! Jungle Run is already available to watch on VOD; you can rent or buy it on Amazon Prime.
Directed by Noah Luke and written by Marc Gottlieb, Jungle Run has the following synopsis:
A search for their missing father turns deadly when sibling adventurers find themselves viciously attacked by jungle animals. But as they fight back against the relentless onslaught, they soon start to realize something much more sinister may be behind the attacks.
Richard Grieco stars alongside Alyson Gorske, Jack Pearson, Jamie Petitto, Wade Hunt Williams, Benjamin Bernard, and Christian DeJesus.
Going by the trailer, Jungle Run certainly throws a lot at its characters. Not only do they have to deal with piranha, anaconda, spider, and alligator attacks, but there also looks to be some cannibal tribe action, and there's something supernatural going on – as we see at the end of the trailer, with the rise of the jungle god Curupira. This looks quite crazy, in a way that could be entertaining. I'm not generally a fan of movies from The Asylum, but this one has me intrigued.
Jungle Run marks the feature directorial debut of Noah Luke, who previously worked in the camera department on films like Arctic Apocalypse and Death Rider in the House of Vampires. He was also cinematographer on Airliner Sky Battle, Asteroid-a-Geddon, and Collision Earth. Marc Gottlieb's previous writing credits include Planet of the Sharks, Alien Convergence, Triassic World, Aquarium of the Dead, and Fast and Fierce: Death Race – a mockbuster that manages to evoke the titles of two unconnected franchises at the same time.
