I've always been fascinated by the Dios de los Muertos celebration (Day of the Dead for those without Google translate). I appreciate that it's kind of a celebration of death – seeing it as moving on to another journey – rather than mourning the loss of life. It's beautiful to me. So it's why I'm looking forward to the new Pixar film COCO.
While it's not the first film to cover the celebration (there was BOOK OF LIFE, for instance), I still think it's an interesting phenomenon. and the last trailer for the film was gorgeous, colorful, and emotional. Now Pixar has released a little short film about Coco's dog Dante called "DANTE'S LUNCH" to help promote the film (it's not quite a trailer). Either way, let's take a look:
Meanwhile, COCO will dance into theaters November 22nd, 2017.
