Channing Tatum America: The Movie

If you'll all stand and join me for a rousing rendition of "America, F**k Yeah," we can get down to business. Deadline reports that Netflix is about to get into the animated feature game with AMERICA: THE MOVIE and has tapped Channing Tatum to voice the lead character.

The animated feature will be an "R-rated revisionist history tale about the founding of the country" which will star Channing Tatum as George Washington. Yeah, I didn't see that coming either. AMERICA: THE MOVIE will be scripted by Dave Callaham (GODZILLA) and directed by Matt Thompson (Archer). Callaham and Thompson will produce the film alongside Adam Reed, Peter Kiernan, Reid Carolin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Most of those names carry quite a bit of experience in the animated comedy field, so I've got my fingers crossed.

Channing Tatum recently reprised his role of Superman for THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE, but the actor's upcoming projects are looking quite promising. Channing Tatum is set to star alongside Adam Driver and Daniel Craig in Steven Soderbergh's LOGAN LUCKY, a comedy-heist film which follows two brothers attempting to execute an elaborate robbert during the legendary Coca-Cola 600 race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Channing will also appear in KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE, which recently screened a trailer at CinemaCon.

LOGAN LUCKY is set for a August 18, 2017 release followed by KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE on September 29, 2017.
