Yesterday, Pixar unveiled their all-Latino voice acting cast for their upcoming music-inspired supernatural animation COCO. Personally, I thought it was really exciting to see the premiere animation studio announce a cast that is forward-thinking and true to the source material, and now, we’ve got a brand-new trailer that shows you more of Miguel’s journey to The Land of the Dead and beyond.
You can check out the new trailer below:
If this is the first time you’re hearing of COCO , the film follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who sets off a chain of events relating to a century-old mystery, leading to an extraordinary family reunion. When he and his dog Dante find themselves transported from their hometown of Santa Cecilia to the Land of the Dead, Miguel joins forces with a lively trickster named Hector, in an effort to locate Miguel’s deceased musical idol, Ernesto de la Cruz. Together, the two will use their passion for music to guide Miguel back to his family, who are still alive and well on the other side of the death. Directed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina, COCO now stars Anthony Gonzalez as the voice of Miguel Rivera, who’s joined by Latino stars Renée Victor, Ana Ofelia Murguía, Gael García Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Jamie Camil, Sofía Espinosa , Luis Valdez, Alanna Ubach, Selene Luna, Alfonso Arau, Herbert Siguenza, Edward James Olmos, and Cheech Marin.
Pixar’s COCO is expected to rock n’ roll its way into theaters on November 22, 2017.
