The Punisher is ready to kill in latest promo photo

Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal) got to share some of the spotlight with Daredevil (Charlie Cox) in the second season of the latter’s solo show, but The Punisher doesn’t look like the kind of guy who likes to share. No image better proves that than the new promo pic for the character’s upcoming solo show on Netflix, in which a shadowy Castle looms, ready to rip out the throat of some poor sap too dumb to find a light switch.

Last week we got a teaser for the upcoming show (below), and so far it’s shaping up to be a gritty, violent examination of the character’s rich and bloody history. Bernthal blew everyone away with his interpretation back in DAREDEVIL season two, prompting Netflix to give him his own show, which is set to debut on a still undisclosed date this year. Talk about staying the shadows, Netflix.

Marvel is doing a great job at many things in their TV and movie departments, but one aspect they excel at is casting. Bernthal is amazing as Castle, and he perfectly combines the relentless rage and tortured soul of the character. I can’t wait for his solo show, which in more ways than one can stand out from the solo shows of THE DEFENDERS line-up (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist), mostly in the sense there will be way more disemboweling and M60 battles.
