Black Klansman Adam Driver Spike Lee

Last month it was revealed that Spike Lee and Jordan Peele had joined forces to develop BLACK KLANSMAN, the astonishingly true story of Ron Stallworth, an African-American police officer who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in the late 1970's. The Colorado Springs police detective was at the center of an undercover investigation into the KKK, and was able to rise through the ranks and collect all sorts of intelligence about their activities.

Deadline reports that Adam Driver (STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI) has joined the cast of BLACK KLANSMAN, in which he will play Flip, "a Jewish undercover police officer who is the best of the Colorado Springs police force. He’s already had many years of experience and is a quick study. He is known on the force for being anti-social, and he’s a perfectionist, critical of others’ mistakes, but brave and dedicated." John David Washington, son of Denzel Washington, is already on-board to play Ron Stallworth. By pretending to be a white supremacist over the phone and sending a white officer in his place for in-person meetings, Stallworth was able to become the head of the local KKK chapter and sabotage their activities from within. It's been some time since a Spike Lee film really impressed me, but BLACK KLANSMAN seems full of potential. Fingers crossed.

Adam Driver will next be seen in STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI on December 15, 2017.
