The events of JURASSIC WORLD left the massive theme park completely decimated and overrun with prehistoric creatures. What to do with such a problem will no doubt be brought up in the new movie – JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM. But while others may just want to nuke the whole island, Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing is working to protect the creatures, and you can learn more about her cause with the new viral website.
The website for the fictional organization – the Dinosaur Protection Group – has been launched and detail’s Dearing mission to help protect the dinosaurs on the island. You can visit the site at the link here and read more about what her character has been up to since almost being eaten in 2015. The worst part was running in the jungle in high-heels.
In regard to more specific details for the movie, the site features small character bios for two new characters in Zia Rodriguez (Daniella Pineda) and Franklin Webb (Justice Smith). Both of them are super smart individuals, but who must spend their days listening to Dearing saying, "I've seen some things you wouldn't believe, man!"
Zia: Zia Rodriguez trained in pre-veterinary medicine at Berkeley before the park incident put on hold her dream of accepting an internship at Jurassic World. Now Zia is one of DPG’s strongest advocates and our resident expert on dinosaur biology. Once the DPG fulfills its goal, she wishes to achieve her dream of mending our giant neighbors.
Franklin: Having previously worked at Jurassic World as an IT technician, Franklin Webb now operates the DPG’s social media and online marketing campaigns. As his surname comically suggests, Franklin is an expert on all things to do with computers and the internet. This makes him an important asset to the DPG’s reach around the globe.
On top of that, there is live data reading of the volcano on Isle Nubar – Mt. Sibo – the activity of which forces Dearing to seek out Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) to help save the dinosaurs. The volcano will eventually explode in the movie, but right now it’s only experiencing “Significant Activity.”
The recent Super Bowl spot was a little iffy to me, and I'm still not 100 percent sold on this movie. I'm trying to keep hope alive that director J.A. Bayona can give the movie a stronger personality than the first JURASSIC WORLD, but little about what I've seen has helped. The viral website certainly gives some more context for where the story is set and gives Howard's character greater purpose, which isn't something she had a lot of in the first movie. That's a plus in my book!
JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM arrives June 22.
