Marvel bumps up the release of Avengers: Infinity War to April

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has slowly and surely been building up to AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR for the past decade, which has made the wait for the epic Marvel flick all the more painful, but Marvel has now made that wait (slightly) more bearable as they've moved the release date a little closer. After Marvel Studios took to Twitter to ask "On a scale of one to infinity, how excited are you to see #InfinityWar on May 4th?," none other than Robert Downey Jr. responded, who asked whether there was any chance he could see it earlier.

There you have it, folks. AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will now be released on April 27th. There's no real direct competition on that date, until DEADPOOL 2 arrives on May 18th, plus it gives Disney a little more room before they release SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY on May 25th. It's going to be one hell of a month for the studio; they should probably order a few more dumptrucks.

The official synopsis for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR:

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will hit theaters on April 27, 2018.
