The Fantastic Four will make their return to Marvel Comics this Summer!

This is not a drill, people. I repeat, not a drill! After a several years-long absence, Marvel Entertainment's first family, the Fantastic Four, will be returning to the studio's publishing arm this summer with the launch of FANTASTIC FOUR #1!

Early this afternoon, Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebluski announced that yes, the team is indeed coming back, and that their return will be helmed by Amazing Spider-Man and Silver Surfer scribe Dan Slott alongside Guardians of the Galaxy artist Sara Pichelli.

After a spacefaring foray into the unknown, Marvel’s First Family returns this August with FANTASTIC FOUR #1.

Written by Dan Slott with art by Sara Pichelli, Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Thing, and the Human Torch reunite this summer.

I am positively freaking out, y'all! The Fantastic Four are my favorite superhero team in comics history, so I'm pretty much writing this article from atop Cloud 9, right now.

The truth of the matter is that Marvel has been laying the groundwork for the Fantastic Four's return for quite some time, now. Over the past few months, a title by the name of Marvel 2-In-One written by Chip "Zippy" Zdarksy with art by Jim Cheung has been performing rather well for Marvel's printed comic division. The series pairs Ben "The Thing" Grimm with Johnny Storm, as the duo travels to parts unknown in search of their lost family members: Sue, Reed, Valeria, and Franklin Richards. In addition to the Fantastic Four #1 relaunch, Marvel has also confirmed that Zdarsky's Marvel 2-In-One will continue from its initial 4-issue limited run.

Could this all be a part of Marvel's master plan to eventually welcome the Fantastic Four into the MCU, once and if the deal to absorb Fox's properties goes through?
