Transformers: The Last Knight’s Isabela Moner to play Dora the Explorer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Based on the popular Nickelodeon TV series, DORA THE EXPLORER will bring the pint-sized explorer to the big-screen in the upcoming live-action film, and Paramount Pictures has finally selected their Dora: TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT's Isabela Moner.

DORA THE EXPLORER will follow the now teenage Dora on an adventure (surprise, surprise) as she's accompanied by her best friend Boots the monkey and her cousin Diego. "We are thrilled to have found our Dora in Isabela," said Brian Robbins, president of Paramount Players. "Dora has long been a celebrated, strong heroine in animated television, and like Dora, Isabela has an incredible spirit and is an advocate for positive values. With our partners at Nickelodeon, we look forward to continuing Dora’s story for generations to come." Under the direction of James Bobin (THE MUPPETS) and scripted by Nicholas Stoller (NEIGHBORS), the film is slated to shoot in Queensland, Australia. In a statement, Isabela Moner added:

I’m honored and excited to bring Dora to life. I grew up watching the show, and for me, especially as a Latina, Dora was an amazing role model — she is a strong, adventurous and fun-loving girl. I can’t wait to put on the backpack and begin her next adventure!

DORA THE EXPLORER is already slated for an August 2, 2019 release, but if you're hoping to see Isabela Moner in something not based on a children's cartoon, she'll be appearing as the daughter of a drug lord alongside Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin in SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO on June 29, 2018.
