After what feels like an abnormally long wait, we’re stoked to present you with the full trailer for DC Entertainment’s upcoming superhero smash, AQUAMAN! Helmed by horror film aficionado James Wan, DC’s latest tentpole offering is poised to wash ashore as an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas. Starring Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry a.k.a. Aquaman, the film reveals the origin story of the half-human, half-Atlantean and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.
Starring alongside Momoa in the aquatic cinematic experience is Amber Heard (JUSTICE LEAGUE, THE RUM DIARY) as Mera, a passionate and relentless warrior and Aquaman's reliant partner throughout his journey; Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe (THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, SHADOW OF THE VAMPIRE) as Vulko, council to the Atlantean throne; Patrick Wilson (HARD CANDY, INSIDIOUS) as Orm/Ocean Master, the modern King of Atlantis; Dolph Lundgren (ROCKY IV, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER) as Nereus, King of the Atlantean tribe Xebel; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (THE GET DOWN, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN) as the vindictive Black Manta; and Oscar winner Nicole Kidman (EYES WIDE SHUT, THE OTHERS) as Arthrur's mother, Atlanna; Ludi Lin (POWER RANGERS, LOST IN HONG KONG) also stars as Captain Murk, Atlantean Commando; with Temuera Morrison (GREEN LANTERN, MOANA ) as Arthur's dad, Tom Curry.
In March, James Wan released a statement via Twitter as to why it’s taken so long for an AQUAMAN trailer to bubble to the surface. You can read the posts for yourself below:
Hey friends, I usually do my best to avoid internet noises (especially fabricated distractions) but a teaser-trailer going out this weekend was never in the books — despite what some claim. It’s not because of anyone or any nefarious reason holding it back — IT’S ME. (1/3)

I am simply not ready yet to share. This movie is filled to the gills with VFX, and the process is as slow and laborious as a sea-slug! Yes, even shots for the trailers take forever to do, and I refuse to put out anything that might be construed as subpar. (2/3)

I know it seems like nothing much is brewing above the surface, but I can assure you, we’re working nonstop under the waves 🌊 😉 (3/3)
(Ps: And yes, I plan to use oceanic puns/references every chance I get 😂)— James Wan (@creepypuppet) March 25, 2018
Now that the wait is over, what do you think of the trailer? Is it everything you’ve been hoping for? Do you think AQUAMAN is the start of a bold, new direction for DC’s floundering (fish puns!) cinematic universe? How many times have you wiped the sweat off your brow while taking in the glory that is a sopping wet Momoa? C’mon, be honest.
Personally, I think the trailer looks fantastic, and I can’t wait to see what other surprises await us as a part of DC’s briny deep sea solo adventure. It’s been a great many years since the name “Aquaman” was associated with anything remotely cool (save for Geoff Johns’ latest comic book run of the character, which is awesome), and it’s about damn time that DC’s aquatic hero is known for a whole lot more than carrying on conversations with fish.
Let us know your thoughts about the trailer below!
AQUAMAN will swim into theaters on December 21st.
