An early draft for Avengers: Infinity War included a Howard the Duck cameo

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As the culmination of the past decade of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR included just about every character possible (sorry, Hawkeye), but an early draft of the film included even more characters, including Howard the Duck. If you'll recall, Howard has made cameo appearances in both GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 where he was voiced by Seth Green, and INFINITY WAR director's Anthony and Joe Russo told Fandom that they had planned to include Howard in the recent Marvel epic.

Anthony Russo said, "Howard the Duck was in one draft of the script. Howard the Duck actually had a really good scene… we were going to cameo with [The Hangover and Community star] Ken Jeong, with Howard the Duck. That was a much-beloved scene by us but it just didn’t end up fitting at all." Joe Russo added that the scene would have found Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) tracking down "some information from Howard the Duck on some outlier planet and interrupting him during a poker game." Cosmo the Spacedog was also set to make an appearance as well, but at the end of the day, the scene was scrapped and we're left wondering whether or not Howard the Duck would have survived Thanos' snap. Perhaps we'll get our answer in AVENGERS 4.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is now available on Digital HD/DVD/Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD.
