Last Updated on July 30, 2021

After adding GAME OF THRONES alum Pedro Pascal and DEADPOOL actress Gina Carano to the mix, it's been announced via The Hollywood Reporter that Nick Nolte has joined the cast of THE MANDALORIAN, the live-action STAR WARS series from acclaimed filmmaker Jon Favreau that is destined for Disney's streaming service, Disney +.Reports suggest that the upcoming action-oriented sci-fi series is going hard in the paint with regard to effects, exotic locales, costumes, and make-up with which to introduce fans of the George Lucas-created franchise with yet another Star Wars installment to eviscerate online.

Favreau, who over the past several years has delivered box office-breaking features for the House of Mouse, will write and executive produce the series alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson and Dave Filoni. The upcoming spinoff also boasts an impressive list of directors, with the likes of Filoni, Taika Waititi, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow, each looking to get in on the action.

While details about the series are scarce at this time, Disney has released a brief description that offers some insight to this new and exciting endeavor:

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. THE MANDALORION is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

In September of this year, Nolte starred alongside Tim Roth (PULP FICTION, THE HATEFUL EIGHT) and Valeria Henríquez (LA CARICA) in THE PADRE. The film tells the story of the Padre (Roth), a small-time con man on the run from his dogged pursuers, U.S. Court Justice Nemes (Nolte) and local police officer Gaspar (Guzmán). When the Padre is caught mid-con, he flees the scene in a stolen car, unaware that a precocious 16-year-old girl, Lena (Henriquez), is stowing away in the back seat. After she blackmails him into letting her join his journey, the duo plan their biggest heist yet – not always aware of the dangers of working with each other and the law closing in on them.

In March of 2019, Nolte is set to star in HONEY IN THE HEAD, a drama from director Til Schweiger that shares the story of a man suffering from Alzheimer's who embarks on a final road trip with his granddaughter. Emily Cox, Emily Mortimer, Claire Forlani, Eric Roberts and Matt Dillon also star.

We'll be sure to bring you more news about THE MANDALORIAN as it breaks.
