Will Forte offers a “sneak peek” of MacGruber show he’s pitching

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Don’t let the box office numbers claim otherwise: MACGRUBER is one of the great comedies of the decade, and hopefully, the rest of humanity has spent the last nine years discovering it. The movie based on the popular SNL sketch starring Will Forte and Kristen Wiig – itself a parody of the MACGYVER TV series – has become a cult classic since bombing at the box office in 2010, and talks of a sequel have been floating around for years. Fans of the movie have been extra excited recently after director Jorma Taccone said they have been pitching a MACGRUBER TV series around town, and Forte recently gave a taste of what such a magical program would look like.

Forte was on THE TONIGHT SHOW recently talking about the project with Jimmy Fallon, confirming they have pitched the show around town over the last few days. Forte took things a step further, however, and by inviting Fallon to assume Wiig’s role as Vicki St. Elmo while he reprised his super-secret agent person and offered a sneak peek at the show.

After saving the world, Forte’s MacGruber and Fallon’s St. Elmo share a loving embrace, suggesting they go back for some “R&R.” Not to give it away, but MacGruber has a much different interpretation of what R&R means. Classic MacGruber.

News of the proposed show broke over the weekend when Taccone spoke about it with the Daily Beast, saying they’ve been pitching a show consisting of “eight-ten episodes.” He continued, saying, “I’m really hoping that when you print this there’s an announcement that it’s actually happening, because I know nothing right now." Well, this needs to happen, and I only hope the powers that be can get this moving so that MacGruber and his team can get back to doing what they do best: pounding some Cunth.
