OUR PICKS FOR March 18th – 24th

Wanna watch something….that takes a fictional twist on an OJ Simpson like case?

THE FIX (Premieres March 18th on ABC) – The writings of Marcia Clark served as the inspiration for this drama starring Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Robin Tunney in a story that loosely echoes the OJ Simpson case. But, where we know how the Simpson case played out, this fictional tale could go in any direction. Sure, it looks like a standard network drama, but it has a good pair of leads and could be an easy watch.

Wanna watch something….revealing the greed of one of the worst people in recent years?

THE INVENTOR: OUT FOR BLOOD IN SILICON VALLEY (Premieres March 18th on HBO) – Gross misconduct by companies and executives is nothing new, but Alex Gibney's documentary will tackle Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos, one of the more atrocious cases in recent memory. Gibney is a master filmmaker and HBO always brings important documentaries to air, so this one will most definitely be talked about the next morning.

Wanna watch something….for fans of TRAINWRECK?

AMY SCHUMER: GROWING (Premieres March 19th on Netflix) – Since her last stand up special in 2017, Amy Schumer has gotten married and is about to have her first child. So, you know the title of this special means fucked up jokes about both. Schumer's popularity is still very high and whether you like her or not, she is a talented performer. It will be interesting to see if motherhood mellows her out at all or if she will still be as raunchy as ever.

Wanna watch something….to rival American Crime Story?

THE ACT (Premieres March 20th on Hulu) – The creator of Channel Zero brings a new anthology series to air, this time based on true crime. While Ryan Murphy's series covers the bigger headline cases, this series starts out with one that doesn't have famous faces but does have some shocking crimes. With Patricia Arquette and Joey King giving awards-worthy performances, this could be your new favorite show.

Wanna watch something….that delivers a biopic about a band that doesn't skimp on the bad stuff?

THE DIRT (Premieres March 22nd on Netflix) – Motley Crue may not be Queen, but somehow they have the biopic that is more unfilitered between the two bands. Based on the band's own memoir, this looks like a fun movie full of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Even if you aren't a fan of their music, you may enjoy seeing them trash hotel rooms and get what they deserve for treating people like crap. Or, you know, stay famous and still act like assholes.

Wanna watch something….that is surreal, bizarre, and really intiguing?

THE OA (Premieres March 22nd on Netflix) – Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling have delivered some incredible indie films like SOUND OF MY VOICE and THE EAST, but their original series The OA blended their trademark styles better than their movies. A blend of science fiction and fantasy, this is a bizarre show (which is the best kind of show) that may not appeal to everyone but will definitely pique the interest in those who like challenging forms of entertainment.

Wanna watch something….that is the best series you aren't watching?

INTO THE BADLANDS (Premieres March 24th on AMC) – AMC is ending this steampunk, post-apocaylptic, action series after three seasons of never really clicking with audiences. The final fourth season brings the iconic story to a close and you absolutely should be checking it out. With awesome CROUCHING TIGER sryle action and great performances from Daniel Wu and Nick Frost, this is a show that you should binge immediately and realize you have been missing out on something awesome for years.

Wanna watch something….for fans of teen soapy dramas?

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: THE PERFECTIONISTS (Premieres March 20th on Freeform) – I have no idea if anyone is going to watch this show. The original Pretty Little Liars lasted far longer than it had any right to and this spin-off looks like a more generic version of that same story. Still, it has to be better than half the crap on TV, so I guess that we will be hearing about this show for the next decade.
