Most days, it feels like you can't get through an entertainment news cycle without a mention of either Ryan Reynolds or Samuel L. Jackson. Those dudes are everywhere, and I don't hear too many people complaining. Recently, Reynolds wrapped his role as One for Michael Bay's 6 UNDERGROUND action-thriller, before moving on to voice the character of Guy for Dreamwork's Animation's THE CROODS 2. As for Samuel L. Jackson, you can catch one of Hollywood's baddest muthaf*ckers in theaters right now courtesy of his role as Nick Fury in Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's CAPTAIN MARVEL. Then on June 14th, Jackson will star as John Shaft II for Tim Story's SHAFT.
Both actors have other irons in the fire as well, but the reason I've gathered you all here today, is because principal photography on the sequel to THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD has begun, which finds Reynolds and Jackson reprising their roles as the oil and water killers, Michael Bryce and Darius Kincaid, respectively. Of course, the duo will also be joined by Salma Hayek, who will once again portray the foul-mouthed Sonia Kincaid, Darius' delightfully deranged and deadly wife.
Set on the Amalfi coast, the mismatched, high-octane trio are unwillingly pulled onto the side of the good guys as they battle to save Europe from a vengeful and powerful zealot with a dangerously over-developed sense of national pride.
Director Patrick Hughes is set to return for all the bullet-riddled mayhem, with Terry Stacey taking on cinematography and Russell De Rozario as production designer. Filming takes place in London, Croatia and Italy. Meanwhile, Matt O’Toole and Les Weldon are producing for Millennium Media alongside Campbell Grobman Films. Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, Jeffrey Greenstein and Jonathan Yunger of Millennium along with Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell of Campbell Grobman serve as executive producers.
Hold onto your butts, my friends, because things are bound to get violent when the sequel to THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD crashes its way into theaters in 2020.
