There's rarely a year which goes by without some form of Stephen King project landing on our screens, and the latest tale of horror from the prolific author which will be getting the adaption treatment is "Lisey's Story." Following a heated bidding war, THR has reported that Apple has given a straight-to-series order to the Stephen King project which will star Julianne Moore (KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE).

Described as a deeply personal thriller, Lisey's Story will follow Lisey (Moore) two years after the death of her husband. The series will explore a series of events which cause Lisey to face amazing realities about her husband which she had repressed and forgotten. In something of a rare movie, Stephen King will be writing all eight episodes of Lisey's Story himself, and THR's sources have said that producers are now searching for several high-profile directors to helm the series. J. J. Abrams is also onboard to executive produce, which will make this his third TV project with Stephen King following 11.22.63 and Castle Rock.

A synopsis of "Lisey's Story" via Amazon:

Lisey lost her husband Scott two years ago, after a twenty-five year marriage of profound and sometimes frightening intimacy. Scott was an award-winning, bestselling novelist and a very complicated man. Early in their relationship, before they married, Lisey knew there was a place Scott went—a place that both terrified and healed him, could eat him alive or give him the ideas he needed in order to live. Now it’s Lisey’s turn to face Scott’s demons, to go to that terrifying place known as Boo’ya Moon. What begins as a widow’s effort to sort through the papers of her celebrated husband becomes a nearly fatal journey into the darkness he inhabited.

Julianne Moore will next be seen in Joe Wright's THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW, a mystery-thriller which also stars Amy Adams and Gary Oldman and is set for an October 4, 2019 release.
