He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake
As a child, did you ever wonder about what happens to your toys after you fall sleep? Like, do they suddenly spring to life the moment you drift off to dreamland? Are they secretly having twilight-hour adventures while you toss and turn? Do your dolls ever stand beside you as you snooze away, hovering above your expressionless face, a butcher's knife in hand? Have you ever asked yourself if rough-housing with your playthings would ever result in your death? No? Really? Oh man. Perhaps it was just my overactive imagination, but I contemplated these things a lot when I was a kid. I suppose I shouldn't have watched all of those CHILD'S PLAY movies.
Orion Pictures unleashed a new poster for Lars Klevberg's CHILD'S PLAY reboot today that positions the horror franchise's titular Good Guy in a prime location to get stab-happy on a sleeping victim. The upcoming film written by Tyler Burton Smith and based on characters created by Don Mancini stars Aubrey Plaza (PARKS AND RECREATION, LEGION), Brian Tyree Henry (SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE, HOTEL ARTEMIS), Gabriel Bateman (LIGHTS OUT, PLAYMOBIL: THE MOVIE), Tim Matheson (ANIMAL HOUSE, THE WST WING), and Mark Hamill (BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES, THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTANCE) as the voice of Chucky.
Here's the official synopsis for CHILD'S PLAY:
A contemporary re-imagining of the 1988 horror classic, CHILD’S PLAY follows Karen (Aubrey Plaza), a single mother who gifts her son Andy (Gabriel Bateman) a Buddi doll, unaware of its more sinister nature.
Yesterday Orion gave fans a glimpse of Chucky's latest design, which has the vicious murder doll being reborn as a fully-interactive smart device-controlled play-pal. Chucky's upgrade is bound to make him a formidable foe in the new film, as he'll be able to access his victims comings and goings through his personal, always-online connections. He's like Alexa's evil cousin, or something. Ugh!
