DC League of Super-Pets: Keanu Reeves, John Krasinski and more added to cast

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

A new casting announcement video for DC League of Super-Pets has revealed that the upcoming animated film is packing some serious star power.

In addition to Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam, Skyscraper) lending his voice to Krypto the Superdog, we now know that Kevin Hart (Borderlands, Fatherhood) will star as the voice of Ace the Bat-Hound. Other outstanding actors set to join the DC League of Super-Pets cast include Kate McKinnon (The  Spy Who Dumped Me, Ghostbusters), John Krasinski (Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan, A Quiet Place), Vanessa Bayer (Trainwreck, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Natasha Lyonne (Russian Doll, Orange is the New Black), Diego Luna (Narcos: Mexico, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), and Keanu Reeves (John Wick, Bill & Ted Face the Music). DC has yet to reveal who the aforementioned stars will play in the new film.

The film, which will serve as Krypto's first-ever feature, hails from Warner Bros and Warner Animation Group. Sam Levine is co-directing, with DC planning to pack the cast with other high-profile celebs. Patricia Hicks, Stern, and, under their Seven Bucks Productions banner, Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia, are producing the film. John Requa, Glenn Ficarra, and Nicholas Stoller are executive producing.

The League of Super-Pets made its debut in 1962, in the pages of Adventure Comics #293. Since that time, characters like Krypto the Superdog, Streaky the Supercat, Beppo the Super Monkey, and Comet the Super Horse have appeared from time to time to lend a helping paw (or hoof) in the ongoing battle against evil. While some of the pets have had their own comic series throughout the years, several have been lost amidst DC's never-ending array of world-changing events, reboots, and edicts to establish a more serious multiverse. However, that hasn't stopped the publisher from introducing fans to Damian Wayne's dog Titus, Aquaman's seahorse Storm, Flexi the Plastic Bird, Clay Critter (R.I.P.), and my personal favorite, Bat-Cow.

As a bonus treat, DC also dropped a shiny new logo for DC League of Super-Pets:
