So this is interesting! Seems DC is diving head-first into horror comics with the release of the spooky supernatural series The Conjuring: The Lover comic book series, which will be related to the film series as a "prelude" to the upcoming The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do it.
Here's the official description:
The prelude introduces college student Jessica, a college freshman returning to campus after winter break, bringing with her the anxieties of last semester’s poor grades, the awkwardness of facing a boy she wishes she’d never slept with, and an undeniably unnerving feeling of being watched. Jessica soon comes to realize that something evil has made her its target, and it will not rest until it has her in its unholy grip. But why did this sinister presence set its sights on a seemingly normal college freshman?
Meanwhile, the first issue of The Conjuring: The Lover – co-written by The Conjuring 2 and The Devil Made Me Do It screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, co-written by Rex Ogle (Death of Wolverine: Life After Logan), and illustrated by Garry Brown (Babyteeth). – will launch June 1st! These isses will also contain backup stories that further explore the mysteries of the dreaded artifact room of Ed and Lorraine Warren, as well.
And here are some images from the comic, showcasing Brown's art and some different stylish covers:
