New Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie titled Texas Chainsaw Begins?

The Hollywood Reporter recently broke the news that Legendary Entertainment is set to bring us a reboot of the Faces of Death franchise, which began in 1978. That's not the only '70s horror property that Legendary is working on reviving, because they have also teamed up with producer Fede Alvarez on a new entry in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, a film that Alvarez has said is a "direct sequel" to the 1974 Texas Chainsaw Massacre (watch it HERE) that will feature "Old Man Leatherface".

THR mentioned the Chainsaw project at the end of their Faces of Death report… but in a very odd way. Here's what they said:

Well, we know the film is a sequel rather than a remake, but what's with this Texas Chainsaw Begins title? Where did that come from? And how can the movie be called "Begins" if the story takes place forty-seven years after the events of the original?

Fangoria's Phil Nobile Jr. went looking for answers and could only say that "someone on the film" was "very confused by that mention".

We'll have to wait and see if the movie ends up being called Texas Chainsaw Begins, or if THR can explain why that title ended up in their article. When the Motion Picture Association gave the film its R rating (for strong bloody horror violence and gore, and language), the title listed was simply Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Directed by David Blue Garcia from a screenplay by Chris Thomas Devlin, the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Texas Chainsaw Begins?) stars Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Jacob Latimore, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Sam Douglas, William Hope, Jolyon Coy, and Alice Krige, with Olwen Fouéré as Sally Hardesty and Mark Burnham as Leatherface.
