The annual Purge was abolished at the end of The Purge: Election Year (watch it HERE), but the event had enough fans that Universal, Blumhouse, and Platinum Dunes are giving us one last Purge movie before they wrap up the franchise. Directed by Everardo Gout, The Forever Purge is set to reach theatres on July 2nd, and you can check out the trailer in the embed above.
Franchise creator James DeMonaco, who has written every film in the series and directed the first three, crafted the screenplay for this sequel as well, telling a story that centers on
Adela (Ana de la Reguera) and Juan (Tenoch Huerta), who find solace at a Texan ranch, having fled a drug cartel in Mexico. Things go awry when a group of outsiders decide to keep purging beyond the allotted time when people can break any and all laws.
Ana de la Reguera and Tenoch Huerta are joined in the cast by Will Patton, Cassidy Freeman, and Leven Rambin.
The Forever Purge was produced by DeMonaco, Sébastien K. Lemercier, Jason Blum, Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form.
Although I still haven't gotten around to watching the Purge TV show, I have been a fan of the movies and I'm looking forward to this one, which takes the action to the Texas countryside.
