Jonah Hill is no stranger to playing shady characters on the big screen. Remember his role as Donnie Azoff in The Wolf of Wall Street? I rest my case. After all, some actors accel at playing undesirable individuals, so Hill is set to play infamous Hollywood fixer Sidney Korshak for a new limited series.
The yet-to-be-titled project hails from Hill and William Monahan and will tell the story of Korshak and Lew Wasserman, the MCA chairman who at one time was known as the most powerful man in Hollywood. The limited series will soon be shopped to potential buyers, with Hill and Monahan looking to give it Scorsese-like appeal.
Back in the 1940s, Wasserman gave actors a chance to change the game by creating the modern talent agency. In time, the government made Wasserman choose between representing clients and being a producer. Wasserman chose the latter. That said, Wasserman's empire was abetted by Korshak, an attorney who was known as a bridge between organized crime and Hollywood.
Hill and his Strong Baby partners Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin will Executive Produce with LBI/Expanded Media and Monahan. Mark Canton (Power/PowerUniverse) and Celebrands CEO Allen Shapiro will executive produce. When you stop to think about how many shady deals happen in Hollywood daily, one can only imagine the type of crap that went down back in the day. I shudder to think.
This is the type of project that will heat up fast once it goes to market. Stay close, and we'll be sure to bring you any updates.
