The Matrix 4: Christina Ricci joins sequel

Just a few weeks ago, we dropped "WTF Happened to Christina Ricci" on JoBlo Videos and ended it with a plea for Hollywood to start casting this really interesting actress in some worthy roles again. Little did we know that such a thing was already in the cards, with WB dropping an updated press kit for The Matrix 4 that featured none other than Christina Ricci's name among the cast. 

It should be said, we know absolutely nothing about her role, with Variety, who first broke the story, noting that they only found out because of the press kit. Neither Warner Bros nor Ricci's representatives commented on the matter, but her participation shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. After all, director Lana Wachowski already worked with Ricci (to great effect) on the underrated Speed Racer, where she played Trixie. 

Despite the dual theatrical/HBO Max release date still being set for December 22nd, virtually nothing is known about this sequel. Well, nothing other than the fact that Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are back as Neo and Trinity, despite both of them dying in The Matrix Revolutions. Jada Pinkett Smith is also back as Niobe, while Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jonathan Groff, and Neil Patrick Harris round out the cast. Heck, the movie hasn't even gotten a real title yet – with The Matrix 4 an obvious placeholder.
