Check out a reimagined version of the Darth Vader vs Obi-Wan fight scene

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Over the decades, the lightsaber battle has become a fixture of the STAR WARS franchise, often becoming more and more elaborate with each movie, but our very first lightsaber battle wasn't exactly the most thrilling in terms of action. While onboard the Death Star, Obi-Wan Kenobi confronted Darth Vader in a scene which George Lucas has admitted "wasn't much of a swordfight at all," but rather a showdown between "a very old man and a man who was only partially a man, and mostly a mechanical being." That's all changed with SC 38 Reimagined, a more modern-take on the Vader vs. Kenobi battle which amps up the action and fight choreography of the iconic scene.

You might remember that YouTube user FXitinPost first teased the project several years ago, and although it's taken a little longer than intended for the entire scene to be released, it's well worth checking out. "Scene 38 ReImagined is about the final confrontation between Ben Kenobi & Darth Vader in A New Hope nearly 20 years after the events of Revenge Of The Sith," reads the description of the video. "This is a one-off story driven scene reflecting the characters in its chronological order from the point of Revenge of the Sith through Rebels, Rogue One, and all canon material leading to A New Hope." Our last lightsaber battle on the big-screen, at least for several years, will likely arrive with STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER on December 20, 2019.
