The directorial debut of Olivia Wilde, BOOKSMART, hits theaters a week from today and if you don’t have plans to see then you need to reconsider your life and start rearranging things ASAP. If you need more convincing beyond the hilarious trailers then Annapurna is here to win you over once and for all by posting the first six minutes of the movie online for your viewing pleasure.

While that doesn’t seem like much, there’s more than enough packed in there to prove why you should pay to see the rest starting next week, or at any of the early screenings around the country this weekend. Front and center are the two star-making performances from Beanie Feldstein and Kaitlyn Dever as two top students who are about to learn they wasted their time in high school on nothing but books, all before they set out on one wild night of fun. Also in the intro are the first of several appearances from Jason Sudeikis and Jessica Williams, as well as the numerous other hilarious supporting players.
I got to see the movie a few weeks ago at an early screening and, without giving much away, it is indeed one of the very best movies of the year so far. Hilarious from start finish and sporting a cavalcade of fantastic performances, this is one to check out in theaters with a packed house. You will see I have much more to say about it when our review drops here on Monday, but already you should get those plans to see it concrete, set in stone and all other forms of solidified.
BOOKSMART is in theaters everywhere May 24.
