As AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR came to an end with Thanos (Josh Brolin) emerging triumphant and snapping out half of all life in the universe, the conversation amongst Marvel fans quickly turned to just how the remaining heroes would defeat the Mad Titan in AVENGERS: ENDGAME. One popular theory, which you've no doubt already heard, had to do with Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) crawling inside Thanos' butt and expanding, killing him from the inside out.
Now, I'm not entirely certain if there was anyone out there who actually believed that this would happen in AVENGERS: ENDGAME, but the theory grew in popularity to such a degree that the screenwriters of the film actually responded to it. While speaking on the Empire Podcast, ENDGAME writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely explained just why the whole Ant-Man/Thanos Butt theory couldn't work.
Thanos could take a punch from the Hulk, we've seen that. And it stands to reason his whole body is at least as strong as that. If Ant-Man expanded, he would be simply crushed against the immovable walls of Thanos’ mighty rectum.
That's a little more information about Thanos' bowels than I cared to know. I would imagine that somewhere, in some alternate corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, perhaps in one of the 14,000,605 possible outcomes seen by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), there lays the crushed corpse of Ant-Man within Thanos' mighty rectum. You're welcome. Happy Friday, everybody!
