Ms. Marvel, Disney+

According to THR, Marvel Studios is developing a live-action series for Disney+ which will focus on Ms. Marvel and have tapped British writer/comedian Bisha K. Ali to write and serve as showrunner.

Ms. Marvel has been the moniker of several heroes over the decades, including Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, but the show will be focusing on the latest incarnation, a teenager by the name of Kamala Khan, who broke new ground to become Marvel's first Muslim character to headline her own comic-book. Here's more details courtesy of THR: "Her identity as a Pakistani American, living in a religious family in New Jersey whilst trying to find her own way, have been a major focus of the stories. Her powers have been described as polymorphous, meaning she has the ability to stretch and change her shape." The first volume of Ms. Marvel went on to win the Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story in 2015. More about the series may be announced at the upcoming Disney+ panel at the D23 Expo.

Ms. Marvel will join other Disney+ projects set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Loki starring Tom Hiddleston, WandaVision starring Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen, The Falcon and the Winter Solider with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, Hawkeye with Jeremy Renner, as well as What If…, an animated series which will examine key moments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and give them a twist. Be sure to keep an eye on the site, as well as our Twitter, for more on Disney+ as the panel at the D23 Expo is due to kick off before too long.
