Trailer for American Horror Story: 1984 goes full ’80s slasher

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The late-70s to mid-80s represented the golden age of the slasher film, with classics such as HALLOWEEN, FRIDAY THE 13TH, MY BLOODY VALENTINE, THE BURNING, SLEEPAWAY CAMP, and many more originating during this period. The upcoming season of American Horror Story will fully embrace the '80s slasher vibe with American Horror Story: 1984, and after a series of teasers, FX has finally unleashed a full trailer for the slasherific new season.

You've got summer camp, counselors, big hair, gruesome kills, and an escaped mental patient. What's not to like? After several years of diminishing interest in the horror anthology series, I have to say that American Horror Story: 1984 has me back onboard, at least for the first few episodes. American Horror Story veterans Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Cody Fern, Leslie Grossman, and John Carroll Lynch are all back for more, alongside Gus Kenworthy, Angelica Ross, Matthew Morrison, DeRon Horton, Zach Villa, and Mitch Pileggi signing up for their first AHS experience. American Horror Story series mainstay Evan Peters will be sitting out this season for the first time ever, and Sarah Paulson will also be stepping back and is said to be taking on a much smaller role this time around.

American Horror Story: 1984 will debut on September 18, 2019.
