One Cut of the Dead trailer teases a new zombie comedy classic

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

In the pantheon of zombie movie classics there are tons of entries that prove just how terrifying a zombie apocalypse would be, but not nearly enough that demonstrate just how much fun there is to be had from an outbreak. Movies like SHAUN OF THE DEAD and ZOMBIELAND come to mind, and based on the new trailer and the glowing reviews, we may just have a new comedy classic on our hands with Shinichiro Ueda’s ONE CUT OF THE DEAD. Centered on the crew of a low-budget zombie movie – who then begin to experience an actual zombie outbreak  – the comedy from Japan has been getting raves for its wild, ingenious approach to the genre, many hailing it as one of the best in the field.

The movie is filled with a ton of surprises that make the story not seem as direct as meets the eye, and the trailer itself points out there may even be some spoilers during the short footage. Still, how are you not going to watch this trailer over and over? This looks like one hilarious, bonkers, teeth-gnashing, bloody good time, The concept of the director wanting the camera operator to keep rolling as the apocalypse breaks out is wild in of itself, but the notion there’s more underneath the surface makes this even more of a must-watch.

ONE CUT OF THE DEAD seems to be that kind of movie where, if it came out during the early 2000s like SHAUN, it would've been this little movie that quietly hit DVD, was seen by a few people, passionately shared, and then all of a sudden it's a cult classic we keep talking about years later. There's something special about these types of movies that come out of the woodwork and then hit your radar you feel like you have to see it right now, and ONE CUT certainly fits into that exclusive little club.
