In addition to a new slate of feature-films for Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the studio also has a handful of TV shows slated to debut on the upcoming Disney+ streaming service. One of those shows is Hawkeye, which will naturally revolve around the skilled archer played by Jeremy Renner, and THR has the scoop on who will be putting words in Clint Barton's mouth.

Jonathan Igla, who served as a writer and executive story editor on AMC's critically-acclaimed drama Mad Men, has been tapped to act as writer and executive producer on the Hawkeye series. Igla has also written episodes of Masters of Sex, Pitch, Shut Eye, and Sorry for Your Loss. The Hawkeye series won't only star Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, but will also introduce audiences to Kate Bishop, a young woman who will be trained by Barton to take on the mantle of Hawkeye. "What I get to do in the show ultimately is shepherd an amazing character, ultimately a better version of me and the sentiment of that is the fiber of what Hawkeye is, at least what I think Hawkeye is — a superhero without superpowers and I get to teach someone else to be a superhero without super powers," said Renner at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige also added that the series will also partially explore Hawkeye's life after The Snap when his entire family disappeared and he became the vigilante known as Ronin.

As we know, Marvel has many other shows in the works for Disney+, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki, with Kevin Feige recently announcing at the D23 Expo that Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, and Moon Knight are also in development. Hawkeye is expected to debut on Disney+ in Fall 2021.
