Jojo Rabbit clip shows Scarlett Johansson sharing some wisdom about love

The new film from Taika Waititi, JOJO RABBIT, has become one of the hot tickets of awards season after it debuted at TIFF last month, and in a few weeks, audiences will be able to see what all the fuss is about. But if a few weeks is too grueling a wait for you, then a new clip featuring Jojo (Roman Griffin Davis) getting some advice about love from his mom, Rosie (Scarlett Johansson) is here to give you some mild relief.

An anti-hate satire set in WWII Germany, the clip shows Rosie trying to educate Jojo about the power of love – much to the boy’s disagreement. Sporting some of that reliable Waititi humor, Jojo informs his mom that love is not the strongest thing in the world, but rather “metal, followed closely by dynamite, and then muscles.” No sign of Jojo’s imaginary friend, who just so happens to be his own manifestation of Hitler (Waititi), but surely, he must be around somewhere, as imaginary friends often are.

The movie has been picking up a lot of awards steam after winning the coveted People’s Choice prize out of TIFF, hinting it has a strong chance of being nominated for some top awards come the Oscars (even though it doesn’t have as strong of reviews of the director’s last movies). Our own Chris Bumbray gave it solid marks out of TIFF, writing this of Waititi’s work:

“He certainly didn’t make it easy on himself, by opting to make a WW2-era satiric family film set in Nazi Germany which tackles the Holocaust. While it’s arguably a lesser work than his previous features, JOJO RABBIT is still a strong effort with some transcendently humane moments that will strike a chord with even the most cynical audience members.

The clip itself sports the blend of sweetness and quirk other Waititi movies like BOY and HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE have, which is more than enough to get me excited about seeing it. His last few movies (including THOR: RAGNAROK and WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS) have made my Top 10 for those years, so chances are I — and anyone else who enjoys his work — will find something to love about JOJO RABBIT.
