Amanda Seyfried to join Gary Oldman for David Fincher’s Mank biopic

MEAN GIRLS and TWIN PEAKS alumna Amanda Seyfried is joining the cast of Netflix's MANK, a biopic from the lens of David Fincher that centers on CITIZEN KANE screenwriter Herman Mankiewicz. Leading the cast as Mankiewicz is Gary Oldman, with Lily Collins, Charles Dance, Tuppence Middleton, Arliss Howard, Ferdinand Kingsley, Jamie McShane, Joseph Cross, Sam Troughton, Toby Leonard Moore, Tom Burke, and Tom Pelphrey all set to fill out the venture's star-studded cast.

While Fincher is set to direct and produce, it's his father, Jack Fincher, who penned the script prior to his death.

Plot details remain scarce at this time, though sources close to the project say that the story will follow Mankiewicz’s turbulant journey while crafting his CITIZEN KANE script, a film that would eventually be hailed as one of the greatest of all time. It's also been said that MANK will be shot in black and white, thereby giving the film an old school look and feel. Production is scheduled to ramp up beginning in November, with Fincher, Cean Chaffin and Douglas Urbanski all producing.

MANK will be Fincher's first major motion picture since the release of 2014's GONE GIRL, a drama that saw Ben Affleck's Nick Dunne becoming the focus of an intense media circus, after it's suspected that he may have been involved in his wife's mysterious disappearance.
