Cloak & Dagger, Marvel

The second season of Marvel's Cloak & Dagger concluded nearly five months ago, but fans of the series will be disappointed to hear that Freeform has now elected to cancel the show. Although the first season of Cloak & Dagger was well received, the ratings dropped like a stone during its second season, meaning that the writing was already on the wall.

Cloak & Dagger followed Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph) – two teenagers from very different backgrounds who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging. In a statement to Deadline, Freeform said, "We are so proud of Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger and the trailblazing stories this series told. We are also grateful to our incredible talent Oliva Holt and Aubrey Joseph for bringing these beloved characters to life, and showrunner Joe Pokaski for his vision. We’d like to thank our partners at Marvel Television for a wonderful two seasons and are we are hopeful that we can find another project together."

While a third season of Cloak & Dagger may not be in the cards, we will be seeing Tandy and Tyrone once more in the upcoming third season of Marvel's Runaways. "It’s so fun being able to do something that revels in the Mighty Marvel Manner! Having these young heroes crossover allows fans of both shows to see the adventure everyone has been waiting for and we’ve only hinted at," said Jeph Loeb, executive producer and soon-to-be former head of Marvel Television.

Any Cloak & Dagger fans out there who are sad to see the series get the axe?
